When we use reported speech, we usually have to make changes to references to time:

tonight ‘I’m going to stay in tonight.’ |
→ that night She said she was going to stay in that night. |
tomorrow ‘I will probably go swimming tomorrow.’ |
→ the next/following day He said that he would probably go swimming the next day. |

→ the following year She said that she hoped to see me the following year. |
ago ‘I saw him 5 days ago’ |
→ before She said that she had seen him 5 days before. |
